5 last minute gifts for boat lovers
We can’t believe today is the 1st of December. That means 24 days to find presents for all the special humans in your life. If there’s a boatie in your midst, this list will hopefully make your life easier. Oh, and that includes you!
If you’re a last-minute Christmas shopper (like many of us), this blog is for you!
Boating Mag Subscription
Jump online and buy an annual or 6-month magazine subscription, based on your friend or family member’s favourite interest. There are fishing and boating mags, as well as publications based on specific passions, like fly fishing, catamarans, and other specialties.
Google Boating Australia Magazine, then click on ‘Shopping’ to access plenty of affordable subscriptions. Buy one online then print out a cover of an issue to gift them in a card. They will absolutely love it, and they’ll get one every month too!
e-Gift Card from BCF
Most boating stores offer gift vouchers, but if you’re not sure where to start, BCF is a good place. Vouchers are easy last-minute gifts, and you’ll make your boat loving mate extremely happy, since they can spend it on whatever gear they want!
Buy e-Gift Cards online from BCF, which are then emailed to the recipient. This is also a great present for someone interstate, as stores are Australia-wide and you’ll save on postal costs too. You can also buy BCF vouchers online, then pick them up instore. Quick. Easy. Awesome.
A Boatsman Multitool
No boaties can live without a good quality Swiss Army Knife. They’re an extremely useful and versatile tool for mariners and anglers. If you’re organised, buy one online from Amazon. A quality knife retails for around $150 AUD, but there are good options for under $50 too.
Of course, this blog is for the last-minute shoppers, so if you don’t have time to order online, head to your local Army Surplus store and buy a Swiss Army Knife there. As a guide, you’ll pay more for a knife with more functions, but even a simple knife is still a great gift.
Every sailor needs a good raincoat to shield them from that salty ocean spray, especially when seas are rough or the weather comes in. Oh, and don’t forget that biting wind, which can make even salty dogs feel worse for wear.
Kathmandu has a great range of waterproof jackets made by trusted brands. Other stores like Anaconda, BCF and every camping store in Australia, should have a good variety of options too. The boat lover in your life will thank you every time they slip it on!
Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
Okay, we never ever condone drinking and driving a boat, but we’d never deny a pirate his rum on land. Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum is a mighty delicious drop, and a tongue in cheek gift idea for your mariner mate.
It’s also easy to find at most Discount Liquor Outlets, like Dan Murphys. A 700mL bottle will set you back around $39 (depending on where you shop). Captain Morgan and Kraken are two other great tasting rums, with amazing sea faring art too.
Need the gift of quality marine cover?
Okay, it’s not as exciting as a Christmas present, but comprehensive marine insurance will give you peace of mind if the going gets tough. We have options that cover you for everything you need (and a few things you didn’t realise you did), and we take care of your claim, if you do ever need support.
