Top 5 sailing accounts to follow on Instagram

Want some sailing inspo when you’re not on the water? These Instagram accounts capture everything we love about sailing – from the pros to the amateurs and every legendary sailor in between. You’ll also find snaps of sailors in action, doing what they love.

If you’re not in the world of Insta, you may like to check out some of the websites or Facebook pages associated with the accounts below. For now though, here’s what made our top 5.

  1. @sailingworldmag

If performance sailing is your jam, then Sailing World Magazine’s Insta account is one to follow. The action shots are next level, with photography of races all around the world, as well as tech and insights into harnessing speed by sail.

Their website is a trove of information too, with reviews, news and ‘how to’ blogs on everything relating to performance sailing. Sailing World has a hefty following, mostly because the visuals they offer are something to behold.

  1. @theyachtguy

Backed by 800,000 followers, ‘The Yacht Guy’ is well worth your time. The guy in question is Alex Jimenez, a self-proclaimed traveler, yachter and lifestyle influencer. His page is a melting pot of luxury yachts, and of course, the lifestyle that comes with it.

You might get a little bit jealous of the photos he posts, but seeing the interiors, helipads, starry night skies and epic yachts in motion, is well worth the occasional pang. Search #theyachtguy and take in the extravagance.

  1. @aussailngteam

The official Instagram of the Australian Sailing Team is pretty much everything you’d expect from Australia’s best. Photography features our national team in action, as well as interviews and insights into their training and race strategy.

Both the Olympic and Paralympic classes are covered on the page, which we love.

  1. @secretsailing

Okay, it’s not really a secret, but the page is undoubtedly cool. Secret Sailing was clearly created by a sailor with a passion for life on the deep blue sea. Their snippets of sailing moments are candid and relatable, since there’s a mix of pros and amateurs on display.

Anyone can be featured on Secret Sailing’s Instagram page. Just tag #secretsailing when you post a pic of your sailing moment, and you could be on the page too! You may also like their tagline, never stop. Because, well, when it comes to sailing, never ever stop.

  1. @volvooceanrace

The Volvo Ocean Race kicks off every 3 years. It’s one of the most infamous sailing events in the world, with competitors racing (approximately) 39,000 nautical miles around the globe. Teams of 7 to 11 race for up to 20 days straight between legs, with 9 months of racing in total.

The route changes every time to take in different ports, often along some of the most treacherous stretches of water. The grueling race is documented in all its grit, skill and glory. It’s well worth a follow.
